Great Moments in Socialized Health Care 1

As America approaches the Utopian dream of ‘free’ health care for all, let’s take a moment to celebrate the great moments of nationalized care currently enjoyed by the UK and Canada.

In England, a young mother gave birth to her daughter on the sidewalk when the authorities refused to send an ambulance.

When the mother called for help:

‘They said they were not sending an ambulance and told me I had had nine months to sort out a lift.’

The proponent[s] of government-run health care only whine about the costs of health care. If education is being discussed they attack America for “not spending enough.” When it comes to public transit they whine about “not spending enough.” When it comes to government programs then more [is good]. When it comes to private services then more is evil. It isn’t the cost that offends them. In the UK the same proponents of socialized care want government to spend more. Spending more is only considered evil when it is done privately.

The problem of socialized health care, apart from the limitless spending that government care needs , is that ‘profit’ is replaced with waste and bureacrats. In countries already suffering under socialized health care, you know that the problem has gone too far when government cabinet members consider the Health portfolio more prestigious than Defense.
