Joss Garman, an activist for eco-terrorist group Greenpeace authored an angry screed against skeptics in The Guardian, but has trouble keeping his facts straight.
Garman wants readers to believe that skeptics are just a loud minority:
Gold-standard scientific reporting from the IPCC , and indeed the value of scientific inquiry itself, is now under sustained assault from a motley assortment of cranks, ideologues and special interest voices intent on stopping the transition to a clean energy economy.
Glossing over the claim that an error-riddled, politically motivated IPCC report could be referred to as ‘Gold Standard science’, move on a few paragraphs later, where Garman lets this inconvenient truth slip:
One extremely influential British journalist told me that editors are coming under significant pressure to adopt a more contrarian stance on the climate science because they are receiving scores of emails and telephone calls daily from the public demanding a more sceptical line. They are receiving very few messages supporting the consensus scientific view.
That doesn’t sound like a few cranks, idealogues and special interest voices, that sounds like an angry public demanding the truth. It also sounds like there are few hippies willing to pick up the phone to defend their neo-religion.
Why does that scare Garman so much, exactly?
[...] Adherents to the global warming hoax are reacting badly to the collapse of their neo-religion, casting about at those who show them the mirror and resorting to name calling. Others ignore years of nasty abuse from warmists and decide that now the tables have turned, maybe we can all just get along. Here’s a question for Jerome Ravetz, are we supposed to forget that alarmists wanted skeptics silenced, jailed or worse for asking questions? Hippies sure are sore losers. [...]
It scares German because he believes in AGW; therefore any delay in action will cause the earth to destruct.
He’s still panicking from the original scare stories. He hasn’t yet actually looked at the claims being made by sceptics (probably because he also believes the lies about sceptics).
Just more proof that as hippies don’t age well and stink more with age.
The truth always scares fanatics.
