Global warming neo-religionists and dirty hippies realize people are no longer buying their lies about a global apocalypse begat by pleasant weather, so they’re going to shoot the messenger. In this case, the messenger is Sen. James Inhofe, the skeptic’s skeptic and political kryptonite to Gore-Al.
The Guardian reports (emphasis mine):
[Inhofe] is being accused of turning the row over climate science into a McCarthyite witch-hunt by calling for a criminal investigation of scientists.
Climate scientists say Senator James Inhofe’s call for a criminal investigation into American as well as British scientists who worked on the UN climate body’s report or had communications with East Anglia’s climate research unit represents an attempt to silence debate on the eve of new proposals for a climate change law.
The Guardian seems to have forgotten that leading climate alarmists called for skeptics to face criminal charges, or worse:
- James Hansen of NASA wanted trials for climate skeptics, accusing them of ‘high crimes against humanity‘
- Robert Kennedy Jr. called climate skeptics ‘traitors’
- Yvo de Boer of the UN called climate skepticism ‘criminally irresponsible’
- David Suzuki called for politicians who ignore climate ‘science’ to be jailed
- DeSmogBlog’s James Hoggan wants skeptics treated as war criminals (video)
- Grist called for ‘Nuremberg trials’ for skeptics
- Emo-Joe Romm wanted skeptics strangled in their beds
- A blogger at TPM pondered when it would be acceptable to execute climate ‘deniers’
The Guardian also has glossed over the inconvenient truth that warmists first tried to silence debate:
- Al Gore, ‘the debate is over’:
- David Suzuki, Gore’s poodle, echoes the Godfather of AGW and parrots ‘the debate is over‘
- Fred Pearce calls for Australia to ‘silence skeptics’
- Heidi Cullen of The Weather Channel called for skeptical forecasters to be decertified
- Bernie Sanders compared climate skeptics to Nazi appeasers.
- Grist has a how-to-talk-to-a-climate-skeptic guidebook
- A complicit media heralded the debate is over mantra
It’s not so much fun when the shoe is on the other foot, is it hippies?

Just as an added point, here’s an interesting link from Sweden regarding the “Record Ice” in the Baltic Sea that is reaping havoc with shipping traffic; .thelocal.se/25334/20100304/ the Baltic is experiencing the largest ice build up in 14 years.
You can see that many of the commenters at the Guardian are blind to simple facts. One is complaining that the CRU doesn’t fall under the US FOIA, and the US shouldn’t be investigating. What they seem to forget is that the CRU receives funding from the US government and by accepting that funding, they now have to answer to the US Feds. The US can bring down the CRU by simply doing a financial audit to track the funding and see where it ended up, especially when that funding is specifically mentioned in the emails!!
It’s already highly entertaining and this is only the beginning.
PS= I got a kick out of Thom Hartmann interviewing Hoggan on his new book and then prefacing the interview with the horse crap about Himalayan glaciers melting. The cult is in deep doo doo.
