Global Warming Hoax Weekly Round Up

Here is your weekly summary of news articles, blog posts and other sources that have something to do with the greatest scam in the history of mankind.

First, let’s talk language, or name-calling to be more accurate.  Greens don’t like people like me, that refuse to swallow their ‘planet in peril‘ script.  So they started calling skeptics ‘deniers’, trying to smear them with the term used to describe those that deny the holocaust.  So, in turn now they get called ‘warmers’ or ‘hoaxers’ or ’scam-artists’.  Name calling jumped the shark this week when a Bishop in the UK compared skeptics to child molestors.  Enough, says Steven Milloy, it’s time to retire denier.  I agree.

Lot’s more coverage of actual facts this past week, none of it good for the greens as it continues to chip away at the ’science’ they wish was settled:

Global temperatures fell again in MayWhen it gets colder, greens will have you believe it’s just
weather, but the conversely the same is not held true of any story that supports it
getting warmer.
Well, here’s the graph, you decide:

NASA, a source for much of the data so beloved of the pro-warming crowd, is trying to explain why it keeps making adjustment to temperature records that overwhelmingly make the case for warming look more credible.  Fox News has more; and here’s an animation of the NASA adjustments.  You can almost feel it getting warmer as you watch it:

The National Post’s Lorne Gunter has an interesting commentary on the so-called ’settled science’.  He also has a take about how the economic troubles will affect people’s fervour about warming, which is an argument I made a while ago.  Makes me feel good, sort of getting to that conclusion ahead of a writer as good as Gunter, even if he did do a better job.

Another journalistic giant, Charles Krauthammer, takes a swing at the green movement, or as he calls it ‘the Church of the Environment‘.  An excerpt:

“The largest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity,” warns Czech President Vaclav Klaus, “is no longer socialism. It is, instead, the ambitious, arrogant, unscrupulous ideology of environmentalism.”

Another excellent read can be found at Mens News Daily, by Will Maven called ‘The Lies and Myths of the “Anthropogenic Global Warming” Fear Mongers’.  An excerpt to tempt you to visit the link:

“Leftists who understand global warming as the scam is, but see in it, through their cynical, Machiavellian eyes, a useful tool to further
government control over the economy and the people.”

A lot of attention this week fell on the US Senate Lieberman-Warner bill, which was defeated.  A notable speech was made by Congressman Rohrabacher back in May, during the hearings, here’s a taste of his ‘do you think we’re all morons’ speech:
“Only 18 months ago the refrain “Case closed: Global warming is real,” was repeated as if the mantra from some religious zealots. It was
pounded into the public consciousness over the airwaves, in print, and even at congressional hearings, “Case closed.” Well, this was obviously a brazen attempt to end open discussion and to silence differing views by dismissing the need for seriously contrary arguments and seriously listening to both sides of an argument. And rather than hearing both sides of the argument, this was an attempt to dismiss arguments even though the person making the arguments might have a very impressive credential or might be a very educated scientist or someone else who should be listened to.”

A politician once noted for being a great green advocate is now under pressure for being very quiet on the topic.  German Chancellor Angela Merkel, like many politicians, is finding that when politicians face a choice, dealing with real issues today, or
a mythical problem later, the myth always loses
.  If this were a
true planetary emergency, do you think politics would matter?

Sweden meanwhile is finding out that nuclear power is better than freezing in the dark, but David Suzuki continues to dream of a nuclear free utopia.  It’s time that irrelevant old hippy retired.

There is some pondering of why greens are failing in the debate on the science.  Here’s a handy poll, (source here):

Finally, some quick hit links for you, as this has been a very lengthy update (I did miss last week, so I’ve tried to make up for it).

The BBC finds that Kyoto means money for nothing, and your carbon credits for free

Al Gore invests in a carbon-trading company.   Conflict, what conflict?

The Top Ten World Problems.  Global Warming at Number 30. Really.

Eco-tourists get stuck in the ice that’s supposed to be disappearing.

Cindy Crawford saves the planet! (I’m only using this so I can post the picture below):

And that ends your weekly round up, make sure you finish your reading assignment before next week’s link fest.
