Apple has been rumored to be working on a 16-inch Macbook Pro for some time now, and now the company itself leaked the design of the device.
Original reports indicated Apple was targeting either a September or October release date for the new MacBook Pro.
This is affirmed by an IHS Markit report from August 2019 that stated the 16-inch MacBook Pro would actually enter production in September, with no actual launch date mentioned.
The report also claimed that the 15-inch MacBook Pro would cease production in November 2019 by replacing it with the 16-inch version.
Discovered by Mac Generation in a high-resolution icon in macOS Catalina 10.15.1 beta 2 builds, the image reveals a device very similar to the 15-inch version.
Credible Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo even predicted the specs and features of the heavily speculated 16-inch MacBook Pro.
While the release window of the rumored premium laptop is still unclear, DigiTimes recently revealed that the Cupertino-based tech giant will start receiving massive shipments of the premium notebook in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Quanta Computer, the Taiwan-based tech company, is reportedly the supplier of the Cupertino-based tech titan of the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Based on the report, the heavily anticipated 16-inch MacBook Pro will sport an ultra-thin bezel design, which suggests that the overall size of the upcoming notebook might be the same as the 15-inch MacBook Pro even though it has a bigger display.
When placed side by side with the 15-inch version however, the narrower bezels and increased screen to body ratio are obvious.
Besides the larger screen, the 16-inch Macbook Pro is also expected to feature an improved keyboard, 96W charging, Intel’s 9th-gen Coffee Lake-H processors and AMD’s new 7nm Navi graphics chips.
Apple might only be stockpiling the 16-inch MacBook Pro in anticipation of the proposed 15 percent import tariff on an extra round of Chinese goods, which is scheduled to take effect starting Dec 15, 2019.
Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted earlier that the 16-inch MacBook Pro might arrive in the last quarter of 2019 with an all-new scissor-switch keyboard mechanism.
