Disney Plus is reportedly receiving a new series of prequels to Beauty and the Beast based on the 2017 live-action remake, in which Luke Evans and Josh Gad, respectively, will see their remake roles as Gaston and LeFaw. According to a report by the Hollywood Reporter.
The television series is said to be a limited six-episode musical series before the events of the film, in which talks with iconic musician Alan Menken to join the program to provide the lyrics (Menken composed the music for the 1991 animated film Composed. And a 2007 remake with several other Disney productions).
Work is being done on a prequel series of the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast for the Disney + platform. This will address the individual stories of LeFou and Gastón, who are the antagonists of the original story.
The mini-series will feature six episodes that are described as a “musical event.” The series will take place before the original story and will help expand knowledge about the universe of one of Disney’s favorite stories.
The one in charge of composing the music will be Alan Menken, the legendary composer who has worked in numerous Disney productions and that in 1991 won the Oscar for Best Score for the soundtrack of the animated version of Beauty and the Beast.
Currently, it is not planned that Emma Watson or Dan Stevens appears in the series, however, the creators do not deny the opportunity for both actors to return to their roles as Beauty and Beast for small appearances.
The film was a success in its premiere in 2017; it managed to raise more than 100 million dollars at the global box office, so adding history to future Disney + projects seems successful.
The series would add to the waiting list of future original productions for Disney + along with all the Marvel, Star Wars, High School Musical, The Sandlot, Turner & Hooch, The Mighty Ducks series, among others.
