“Sexiest man alive” at least that is what the People’s Magazine likes to call Brad Pitt, and thus he might be taken as a connoisseur in American ideals of masculinity.
But manliness was still a topic the movie star was excited to talk over, when he talked to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour about fathers, sons and meeting face to face with Harvey Weinstein, ahead of the clearance of his latest movie, the sci-fi thriller “Ad Astra.”
The film, directed by James Gray and also featuring Tommy Lee Jones and Liv Tyler, narrates the story of astronaut Roy McBride (Pitt), who is searching into details for his yearning father. In his pursuit, he excavates mysteries that could demolish the galaxy.
Talking of parental relationships, Pitt explained: “My personal understanding is somewhat universal, in the fact that you know our parents, our universe, our gods, our first imprint on how to behave, react, feel in the world.

He also claims that even though we are brought up in a culture where parents are treated as gods, many at times we pass on our emotional baggage as well to our kids as a lineage.
In such a situation, it is often difficult to differentiate for a child what badge really belongs to them and what they have, well…. inherited.
“My dad always said he wished to give me a reasonably better life than what he had received, coming from extreme poverty. And he did it. And it makes me reckon, as a father, what do I have to deliver that’s better than I had, to my children?” he added.
The movie analyzes ideas of father-son relationships, machismo and susceptibility, and loneliness — a topic Pitt was excited to deal with in his work.
“We’ve all dealt with loss, we’ve all learned great loneliness at times. And we’re good at storing that away and not handling it. Some of us are really promising at it, at getting through it and moving toward the other side as a more wellbore, I think more hopeful, more affectionate human being,” he said.
Pitt has been previously candid about his divorce and his crusades with sobriety. In September 2016, his wife, Angelina Jolie had filed for divorce after two years of marriage and more than 10 years as a couple, breaking the forever fan-favorite “Brangelina” and in 2017, the actor spoke to GQ about ceasing drinking, acknowledging he was “liquoring up too much.”
