There’s no doubt you’ve heard of the Central Park Zoo, but there’s another experience you wouldn’t want to miss while staying in New York. The largest urban zoo in the US, the Bronx Zoo is home to over 6,000 species and is a perfect place to spend a day with your family and friends of all ages. It takes time to get there, but it is definitely worth the trouble. Here’s why.
Get to Know Your Favorite Animals
Meet the animals you’ve only heard about, from adorable red pandas and monkeys to giant elephants and giraffes. There are also no cages with bars so that animals can feel more comfortable. Get an up-close experience of exploring how the zoo works and meeting the zoo’s stars in person.
Visit Feeding Sessions
This is the zoo where you have a chance to feed some of the animals like penguins and sea lions and ask friendly zookeepers any questions as part of the feeding experience. Feedings are scheduled for 3:00 PM for sea lions and 3:30 PM for penguins.
Explore Your Wild Side
Set aside a day to enjoy the Bronx Zoo fully — there are some pretty cool activities, especially for children. Let your child overcome the fear of insects and take a spin on a grasshopper’s back on the Bug Carousel.
What about climbing and swinging through the zoo’s treetops? Ninety obstacles and ten rides inside the Bronx Zoo make it a truly unique outdoor adventure. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to zipline over the Bronx River.
Learn More about Nature
The zoo offers exceptional educational programs that include workshops, summer camps, and field trips, so people of all ages can dig deeper into the world of wildlife. Check the schedule on the Bronx Zoo website and find a suitable activity for you and your kids.
Bronx Zoo Admission
The Bronx Zoo ticket price is $41.95 for adults, $36.95 for seniors, and $31.95 for children under 12.
