Megan Rapinoe has bagged the best women’s player award. The competition was tight, but USWNT star Megan Rapinoe took home the prestigious award for best women’s player. She edged out her USWNT teammate Alex Morgan and England’s Lucy Bronze.

Rapinoe had an exceptional year, with the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup win being a major highlight. She has ended the tournament with six goals and three assists and bagged both the Golden Boot and the Golden Ball.

Rapinoe’s personality and power go beyond the pitch, though. She’s a very outspoken and vocal supporter for equality, LGBTQ+ rights and equal pay for women, and she has never hesitated about making it clear to the people what she stands for.

She and many of her USWNT teammates are at the moment even suing US Soccer for their inability to pay them as much as the USMNT, a lawsuit that was filed not very long ago. She’s not scared to call out influential and powerful people.

In the past, she has taken on Donald Trump, Piers Morgan and FIFA top brass. 2019 was the year of Rapinoe, and her influence both on and off the field made it obvious that it’s her world and we should be grateful for witnessing greatness, both on and off the pitch.

Women football star Alex Morgan praised her USWNT teammate, “Having shared the pitch for so many years alongside Megan, I’ve seen up close why she is so unique, but at the World Cup she showed to the rest of the world what is made of.

She is special, really. She always manages to rise over and come through in crunch moments. Goes without saying but she was a HUGE part of us winning the World Cup and she is rightfully getting all the accolades because she deserves it.”
