The high temperatures of late have electricity consumption at an all-time high and ERCOT is urging the consumers and businesses to decrease their energy usage today and tomorrow.
Electricity will be expected to be in short supply because temperatures are likely to cross 100 degrees in all of the state’s major metropolitan places through Saturday. Leslie Sopko who is a spokesperson for ERCOT. She tells that ever-increasing demand has been put on the state’s electric grid owing to a number of reasons.
“People are still on the move to the state of Texas, there’s an economy which is clearly thriving,” Sopkoe reasoned. “And there’s massive oil and gas development, so it is not a big surprise that demand is continuing to rise.”
The combination of increasing demand and rising temperatures has put a strain on the electric grid. Sopkoe also added that the power customers just have to take very easy steps to decrease electricity use, importantly during the peak hours of 2 and 7 PM.
Increasing the thermostat settings just a few degrees and the usage of fans to recirculate air can help alongside turning off lights when not in use can help decrease the electricity usage and help save money. Texas power consumers have set a new September record for the most demand earlier in the week
