A millionaire was arrested on Sunday after his 11-year-old son passed away in a freak accident when he was allegedly hit by his dad’s boat after falling overboard.

Javier A. Burillo, 57, who belongs to one of Mexico’s wealthiest families, was over the legal alcohol limit the crash happened on Sunday, the cops said.

Tiburon Police Chief Michael Cronin told that Burillo did his best to get both his sons back on the boat, then took them to Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon, in California where the 11-year-old boy was declared dead.

“In what was an unfortunate and tragic incident, one child suffered severe traumatic injuries as a result of this accident. He was immediately declared dead on the scene at the yacht club, dockside,” the Marin County Sheriff’s Office disclosed in a statement, according to ABC News.

According to ABC News, Burillo is alleged to have run over his son.

The police also revealed that it was Burillo himself who informed the authorities at around 7 pm on Sunday.

The police also revealed that Burillo was in complete grief and shock. However, they claimed he remained cooperative and sympathized with him.

Whether the two boys were wearing life jackets when they fell into the water remains unclear.

Friend Azita Mujica-Beavers called the property developer a “good family man”, before terming it “insane” to hold him in prison.

The millionaire was released from prison on Sunday night after paying a $1million (£799,955) bond.

He was earlier married to the Mexican’s former President Miguel Aleman’s daughter, with whom he has three kids.
