When now parent company Facebook purchased the platforms of WhatsApp and Instagram, the whole idea behind the semi-culmination of the platforms was to create a unified interface where users of any of the three messaging platforms could simply text the other without having that particular app on their phone.
The new WhatsApp update definitely seems a step in that direction and the feature is available for every user who has updated to the new version of the app. All you have to do once you’ve updated the app is follow a few simple instructions and in no time, you’ll be set to post your status on Facebook in the background.

A step above
Just like Instagram, WhatApp’s statuses permit users to post images, text, videos on their profile that will disappear after 24 hours. Although WhatsApp hasn’t made an official announcement, several users have taken it upon themselves to report it on Twitter. The rollout appears to be a part of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s plan to create a unified app combining WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram to let over 2.6 billion users communicate with each other cross-apps by 2020.
What to expect in the future
WhatsApp is also working on a new feature recently spotted in the latest beta update, that allows you to even hide status updates from the contacts you have muted. This helps your status tab stay clear of updates from people you are not interested in at the moment.
How to use the feature
To use this feature, tap on the share button which will show you the apps you can share your WhatsApp status with. Tapping on ‘Share to Facebook Story’ will let you share WhatsApp Status to Facebook Story.
