Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, worked hard for his upcoming big-screen live-action Spawn. Last year since he had faced financial issues, Spawn was on hold. Mcfarlane’s shares his views in an interview with Comicbook.com: “Audience in Hollywood wants an R-rated dark comic book movie, and Spawn is at the top list.
He is getting in phone calls rapidly. He has been communicating with a couple of Academy Award people, has been getting investors lined up. Because of the success of the JOKER, the reboot is happening this year and he will be directing it and it will happen this year.
The Todd McFarlane directed Joker, a real story of the infamous Batman villain, became the first R-rated film in history to earn more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office prior to winning two academy awards including the first Best Actor win for star Joaquin Phoenix.
MacFarlane said, Beyond the Oscar-winning Foxx and the Oscar-nominated Renner, Spawn consists of The Walking Dead special makeup effects from Guru Greg Nicotero along with a couple of photography directors who have won the awards.
Further to the discussion, Macfarlane added,” Jason Blum has won multiple awards and now been up for Academy Awards, said everyone he is surrounded with is a star and they will carry him and make him look good and not worry on the same.”
Todd Mcfarlane wrote the screenplay and he has been creative control. McFarlane has created the Spawn and has a wide range of experience as a writer. There were few things which made challenging his desire to direct the movie himself, despite the fact that McFarlane has no experience as a Director.
