The CEO of Twitch, Emmett Shear, recently even addressed some of the platform’s issues that were negatively impacting the user experience. The main issue was the lack of functionality in their search and discovery features that made finding content
unnecessarily difficult.

Aiming for better user experience recent strategic move allowed Twitch to overcome this challenge by acquiring IGDB transforming its database features. Twitch recently made a move toward adopting a wider database that would significantly improve their search and discovery features.

They saw the Sweden-based IGDB startup as the perfect fit for the challenge. What will happen? IGDB or the Internet Games Database is a website dedicated to providing a relevant and detailed resource of information about games.

The startup was founded by Christian Firth of back in 2015 and it still consists of a small team of ten people. It is confirmed that IGDB’s database will merge with Twitch. The platform will now provide a better user experience and a more efficient source of gaming content through automation and community distribution.
