For once the rumors have turned out to be true!
We are getting a huge take on Virtual On arcade games coming up for the PlayStation 4 this November.
It covers the major releases for all the main arcade Virtual-On games and will also comprise of ab online multiplayer for each.
While Virtual-On Marz is omitted from this collection, I am entirely fine with it. It was not an overly great game, to begin with, and was effectively meant as a PlayStation 2 port of Virtual On Force anyway.
As per the official Virtual-On website, all three titles included in the Masterpiece collection will feature network play for online battles, as well as support the team battles, mini-tournaments, and round-robin tournaments. Cyber Troopers Virtual-On: Masterpiece 1995-2001 will also support the enormous twin-stick controller that was crowdfunded by the manufacturer Tanita.

Cyber Troopers Virtual-On: Masterpiece 1995-2001 is slated for release digitally in Japan on 27th November. The game will cost 4,500 yen (approximately $42). Sega has not confirmed release for Western countries, but you can check out some gameplay from Tokyo Game Show. The good news is that the Tanita made its TwinStick peripheral which in turn will be more compatible with this collection, so you will be at least be able to play these classic mech arcade games as they were intended.
Considering the number of mech games surfacing, in the past few years, such as Metal Wolf Chaos XD and Daemon X Machina, it’s exciting to see Virtual making a comeback again.
All the fans are looking forward to this to mean that we get a new Virtual On arcade game at some point after this collection is released.
Virtual On is available for the PlayStation 4 from November 27 in Japan. It will cost 4,500 yen (approximately $42) and appears to be a download-only name at present. Apart from this, there is no further news on whether this game will come to the West.
