The 31-year-old singer Tahliah Debrett Barnett is quite offended with the public and the way society works. Tahliah Debrett Barnett a.k.a FKA Twigs talked about how her relationship with Robert Pattinson became an eligibility criterion for validation of her looks.
She told everyone that prior to her relationship with Robert Pattinson, she was often looked like someone with odd and weird looks. People saw her as someone with a different face.
But just when she got into a relationship with Robert Pattinson and the news spread, people started calling her beautiful. Once an odd-looking girl became pretty and other good adjectives overnight and that was offending for her.
One might even think why Tahliah got offended with that. She explained further that she felt bad about needing a man to put a tick to her looks. She was upset that society needed her to get approval by a white man before they started considering her pretty and good looking.
She was offended because society made it a norm for a woman to get the approval of a man first before the whole society starts appreciating her.
She talked about how all of these leads to the development of inbuilt insecurity in women. She stated that “I think that, in the society, as a woman, you can be this wonderful creature and you want to be that for yourself, but there’s also a part of you that is doing it for the approval of the opposite sex.
That can lead you to feel, “Am I good enough? Have I done enough?” I feel like I have been indoctrinated to feel like when I am with a man, things are much better.”
Tahliah got engaged with her boyfriend Robert Pattinson but they split up in 2017 due to some reasons.
