An Iranian Instagram star who posted her creepy photographs taking after a Hollywood entertainer Angelina Jolie has been arrested on blasphemy charges, according to reports.
Sahar Tabar was charged over the cultural crimes and social and ethical corruption reported The National, quoting semi-official Tasnim news agency.
Tabar shot to prominence on Instagram last year when posting a series of pictures of her face altered through cosmetic surgery.
Many pictures and videos shared together with her twenty-six,800 followers have also been heavily edited so that she seemingly resembles Hollywood star, Angelina Jolie.
Sahar had altered her whole face through a cosmetic surgery which resembled a spooky version of Jolie altered through plastic surgery. After she posted the pictures on Instagram she immediately went viral.
“She faces charges as well as blasphemy, inciting violence, gaining income through inappropriate means and encouraging youths to corruption,” the report added. Instagram is that the sole social media platform allowed in the Asian nation whereas all alternative common platforms like Facebook and Twitter are illegal.
She became renowned on Instagram last year when posting a series of pictures of her face altered through cosmetic surgery.
Sahar was also rumored to have undergone 50 plastic surgeries to look like Jolie but most of the pictures in her posts had been heavily edited.
The account features images of her with a gaunt face, pouting lips, and a sharply turned-up nose. In some, she will be able to be seen carrying a loosely fitting hijab over her hair and a white bandage on her nose normally seen on Tehran’s streets.
Cosmetic surgery is vastly common within the Islamic republic, with tens of thousands of operations taking place each year. After revealing her trend she was mocked for wanting additional sort of a zombie than Angelina Jolie.
