According to updated Wii software sales from Nintendo for the 6 months ending September 30, 2019, Nintendo shipped 40,000 units of Mario Kart Wii to retailers. Lifetime sales increased from 37.20 million copies to 37.24 million copies in 6 months.

While revenue for the company is predominantly coming from its new hybrid device released early last year, there’s a certain Nintendo-developed Wii game from 2008 that are still earning a pretty penny on the side.

Over the period of the last quarter, Mario Kart Wii has shifted another 40,000 copies.

Back in July of this year, Nintendo game sales figures for the Switch revealed the latest Mario Kart outing – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – had shifted 10.35 million copies globally.

So where are all these Mario Kart Wii sales coming from, Obviously, there are still new copies of the game out in the wild. At the end of 2018, the WII release was the 83rd best selling game on Amazon. Not at all bad for a title that’s now a decade old.

That popularity might influence some gamers to head back to the Wii version potentially as it moved from 37.20 million units to 37.24 million units since March 2019.

The Nintendo Wii is still getting Just Dance 2020, so the popularity of the 4th best selling home console of all time is holding up.

Mario Kart Wii really is unstoppable. Somehow, someway, people are still finding new units of the game to buy out in the wild. Believe it or not, in the last 6 months alone, Nintendo has managed to sell another 40k units of the game.

That pushes the worldwide sales total from 37.20 million copies to 37.24 million.

Mario Kart, in general, doesn’t die. Like, seriously, this series is absolutely insane. Across Wii, 8, and 8 Deluxe, they are blockbuster games on their respective platforms.

In fact, it’s so big on Nintendo Switch that it’s the best selling game on the platform so far.

Mario Kart Wii, one of the bestselling Wii games of all time, is apparently still moving in 2019.
