"Screen time accelerates your aging"- Finds New study

Recently a study was published in a science and medical journal named Aging and Mechanisms of Disease on the effects of Blue Light emissions from screens. 

According to the study, done by researchers at Oregon State University, exposure to screens can accelerate aging. This is not the first time when a bad effect of being too much in front of the screen has been documented.

Earlier, increasing screen time which included Television, computers, Smartphones, Tablets, and the likes has been linked with depression and sleep disruption especially seen in adolescence.

The very reason why after facing too much pressure and demand from its users, Apple released a new feature to track the screen time behaviors on its devices.

But of course, sooner came the loopholes using which the teens could be free or fool the monitoring system used for parental control.

But, the screen time using patterns have changed drastically within a few years. The people who have been criticizing the teens for being exposed to screens have themselves shifted to the same group with the same screen time behavior patterns.

There are approximately 30% of adults in the United States of America who are always online.

This proves the time people are spending in front of the screen. Fruit flies were used by the research team for their cellular structure are similar to those of humans, making them a popular choice for experiments.

The experiment was done in two batches. In the first batch, the fruit flies were exposed to blue light (screens emit harmful blue light) for 12 hours and then put in the dark for the next 12 hours. 

In the second batch, the fruit flies were exposed to white light for 12 hours. While the results showed that fruit flies exposed to white light had a decreased life, the flies exposed to blue light not only died drastically sooner but also showed a difference in behaviors like inability to climb or see. 

The results confirmed the effects of blue light on the brain. To avoid these symptoms, scientists suggest to expose yourself in natural light more often, use protective glasses and change device settings to reduce the emission of blue lights.
