Terrence Howard’s six-year divorce battle is close to coming to an end and an L.A judge ruled that it is time for him to pay up. Howard had been ordered to pay his ex-wife Michelle Ghent $1.3 in back spousal support, according to NY Daily News.
Howard has to pay Ghent $263,137 in back spousal support and with another $1,055,970 added on since Howard is bringing in top dollar due to his role on Empire.
Terrence was married to Michelle from 2010 to 2013, The case dragged on for so long because Howard refused to pay a divorce judgment back in 2013. If he would have paid back then he would have avoided having to pay these fees. Howard, 50, also has to pay Ghent’s legal fees, which also adds up to $1million.
“This has gone on long enough,” l. a. choose Helen Zukin aforesaid throughout the hearing. “The Court of Appeals determined it’s a valid judgment, and it’s time to enforce that judgment.” He added that ‘karma comes to everyone’ in reference to the six-year court battle.
Howard hasn’t submitted his income and expense reports due to being under criminal investigation in Pennsylvania. He is reportedly being investigated for fraud and tax evasion. He wasn’t present in the court but his lawyer argued on his behalf that Judge Zukin’s ruling was premature. Unfortunately for Howard, those cries fell on deaf ears.
“Terrence has been trying to transform vice into virtue and to use the fact of his own tax evasion as both a sword and a shield,” Ghent’s lawyers Said Vakili and John Schlaff said in legal documents from June.
Howard and Ghent tied the knot in January of 2010. Ghent filed for divorce a year later. She was also granted a restraining order in 2013 after she claimed that Howard choked and punched her while they were trying to reconcile during a Costa Rica getaway.
